Chhattisgarh Government Jobs Age Limit & Relaxation Rules
When applying for state government recruitments conducted by the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) or the Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board (CG Vyapam), understanding the age criteria is essential. While the standard baseline age limit for general category candidates from outside Chhattisgarh is typically 21 to 30 years, the State Government provides substantial age concessions to bonafide residents of Chhattisgarh.
The maximum age limit, including all possible category relaxations combined, cannot exceed 45 years. Below is the category-wise breakdown of age relaxations applicable for CG Government jobs:
1. General Category (Chhattisgarh Domicile)
Permanent residents of Chhattisgarh receive a baseline relaxation of 5 years, making their standard maximum age limit 35 years. Furthermore, under recent state welfare extensions, the upper age threshold for educated unemployed local residents has been relaxed up to 40 years for most administrative and civil vacancies.
2. OBC, SC, and ST Categories
Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC – Non-Creamy Layer) who hold a valid domicile certificate of Chhattisgarh are granted an additional relaxation of 5 years. This extends their maximum upper age limit up to 45 years.
3. Female Candidates (Women Domicile)
To promote women’s empowerment in state administration, the Chhattisgarh government provides a massive 10-year age relaxation specifically for local female aspirants. This allows local women candidates across general and reserved categories to comfortably apply for state recruitments up to the age of 45 years. Additionally, special provisions offer up to 5 years of relaxation for widows, divorcees, or deserted women on their first appointment.
4. Other Special Relaxations
- PwD (Persons with Disabilities): Up to 10 years of upper age relaxation depending on the nature and degree of disability (minimum 40% threshold required).
- Ex-Servicemen & Home Guards: Granted age deductions equivalent to their period of active service rendered, plus an additional 3 years.
- State Government Employees: Permanent, temporary, or contractual employees of the Chhattisgarh state departments receive age relaxations allowing them to apply up to 38 years of age.
Note: Age calculations are strictly executed based on the benchmark date specified in each official recruitment advertisement (usually set as January 1st of the notification year). Candidates must produce valid, state-authorized caste and domicile certificates during the document verification round to claim these benefits.
